What should I bring on a sailing trip?

You should consider bringing the following on a sailing trip:

  • Snorkeling gear

  • Swimming gear

  • Hiking boots or sturdy footwear

  • Running shoes (optional but recommended)

  • Rain jacket and/or windbreaker

  • Toiletries

  • Sun protection and a “fly-proof” hat (one that fits tightly or has a string to keep it on)

  • Camera (waterproofing not required but makes for great photos that others won't get)

  • Day pack for off-boat adventures

  • Something for nausea (although most people don't have a problem with sea sickness, you never know how you'll feel if the seas get a little choppy)

  • Warmer sweater and bottom for the evening or windy conditions

What is included with the sailing trips?

The following is included on our sailing trips:

  • An experienced, charismatic skipper who will keep you safe at sea

  • A host who will help organize your itineraries and activities (select trips only)

  • A 50 foot sailing yacht upon which you will travel (models may vary depending on crew size)

  • Accommodation for all 6 nights on the yacht

  • Linens, pillows, towels, and blankets

  • Water (for cooking and washing) and electricity on the boat

  • Dishes, cooking utensils and cutlery

  • All boat safety equipment

  • Gas and port fees (day trips only)

What additional costs will I incur?

As with most charters, passengers are responsible for their own:

  • Food and drinks, including drinking water (about $30/pp/day)

  • Rental car, bike, or 4x4 (optional)

  • Organized tours (optional)

  • Gas and port fees (for the multi day tours only)

  • Travel insurance, including repatriation coverage

What if I never sailed before?

Our skipper will handle the ropes and the boat for you. You can help out and learn if you are interested, but this is not a requirement.

What types of activities are available?

Depending on your interests, we can arrange the following activities:

  • Walking tours, sightseeing, and hikes

  • Organized runs

  • Bike tours

  • Guided open-water swim practice and snorkeling

  • Basic yoga practice

Can I help on the boat and can I learn/practice sailing on the sailing trips?

Want to be part of the sailing action?  Our skipper is always looking for a hand on the yacht; just make sure you listen to the instructions because ultimately it is the skipper’s responsibility to keep everyone safe.

What if I’m late on the day of the departure?

As we get closer to the date of departure you will be provided the skipper's phone number.  If you are running late, please contact your skipper as soon as possible so that we can arrange where to meet you. We recommend that you arrive at least a day or two before departure.

What if I have to change my departure date or cancel my trip?

We will do our very best to accommodate any departure date changes for you, as long as we have space on the boat. Please give us at least a week notice.

If you need to cancel your trip, the following is our cancellation policy:

  • More than 60 days before departure we charge a 10% cancellation fee

  • More than 30 days (but less than 60) before departure we charge a 50% fee

  • Less than 30 days - no refunds

Of course, for the so called "extenuating circumstances" - like natural disasters, severe health issues, or deaths in the family etc - we offer full refunds.

Should I tip the skipper?

We take good care of our skippers; we pay them a competitive salary, however the rules of the sea require that you provide for their food. If you feel that you have received excellent service from them, we welcome you to provide them a bonus/tip. This is not required.
